Depp's The Rum Diary shoots Carnival scenes

San Juan stands in for St. Thomas for today's filming of the carnival scenes from "THE RUM DIARY" starring Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart and Richard Jenkins. TRD is being directed by Bruce Robinson and is based on Hunter S. Thompson's novel. The filming reportedly will continue through June 5.

Variety is reporting today that "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." will screen out of competition at Cannes. Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Ferrell stepped in to finish the film after the death of Heath Ledger.

"Public Enemies" by Bryan Burrough gets movie tie in cover art in reissue
Bryan Burrough's "Public Enemies" is getting a movie tie cover with the book's re-release on April 29. The film starring Johnny Depp as 1930s gangster John Dillinger, is based on Burroughs book, and also stars Marion Cotillard as Evelyn "Billie" Frechette, Christian Bale as FBI Agent Melvin Purvis and John Michael Bolger as Det. Martin Zarkovich. PUBLIC ENEMIES is directed by Michael Mann for Universal.
The film is slated for a July 01 nationwide release.

It appears that a current press release from Warner Bros appearing on a Japanese site is saying that Japan will see the highly anticipated Johnny Depp - Tim Burton DARK SHADOWS in 2010. Infinitum Nihil's Sam Sarkar had hinted that there could be news about this project coming soon. Is this the news? Time will tell.
