Johnny Depp and "Public Enemies" motivate John Dillinger Day in Chicago

Apparently thanks to Johnny Depp and the Public Enemies filming in the area, the focus at the Portage Theater in Chicago this coming Sunday, July 20 will be on John Dillinger as they name it John Dillinger Day. They plan a special showing of the last movie Dillinger saw before he was gunned down outside of the Biograph Theater in Chicago where they will be showing Manhattan Melodrama starring Clark Gable, Myrna Loy and William Powell with ticket prices set at 25 cents, the same price Dillinger paid that fateful night, June 23, 1934.

Tuesday night in Chicago with Public Enemies

Reports have "Public Enemies" and Johnny Depp filming at the Portage Theater and at the Aragon ballroom in Chicago the last couple of nights. No meet and greets.

More internet chat about Christian Bale being needed on set for "Transformers" out west, seems PE might be running a weensie bit behind and they are trying to get his scenes on PE completed.

"Public Enemies" still in Chicago

Johnny Depp fans are still excited over his 2 big wins last night at the MTV awards. BUT today there is a lot of chat about what's going on this week. It's been widely rumored that we have seen the end of the meet and greets. Makes sense actually. Not sure. BUT I can't encourage people to go if the studio has put an end to them. Go or don't go, but don't be disappointed if there isn't one. Who knows what will happen as time goes by?

It looks like Chicago's Portage theater and, as I said earlier, the Aragon Ballroom should be up next as it's been said that the Portage will double for the Biograph interior and not Aurora, WI's Paramount as we thought earlier. And I just have one of those nagging feelings that they haven't finished at the Biograph.

As always, more tentative chatter as we get it.
